Bora Bora

Bora Bora has cemented its reputation as an idyllic, romantic getaway in French Polynesia, but putting it in a single category would be a mistake.  Bora Bora is growing into an adventure destination that will appeal to all types of visitors. It’s known as the island of all dreams for a good reason. The blue waters that surround an emerald island continue to enchant cruise visitors and tourists, bringing the beauty of the Society Islands to the forefront. As an option for worldwide cruises, repositioning cruise itineraries, and a major part of 14-day roundtrip Papeete cruises, Bora Bora is a destination coveted by cruise aficionados and tourists alike.

Tendering into the main town of Vaitape is the easy part.  You’ll find it much harder deciding what to do with the precious time you have on this island paradise.  Swimming, scuba diving, paddle boarding, hiking, 4×4 tours, and snorkeling are readily available on this small island, but there’s much more.  The Vitamin Sea is a 40-foot racing catamaran sailing around the Otemanu mountain towards the reef, where visitors can enjoy the floating bar, a glass of champagne, and watch the sunset from the beautiful sunbeds.  And thrill-seekers won’t be disappointed.  Whether it’s your first jump or 21st, skydiving is a thrill that’s intensified by the sheer beauty of the islands.  Skydivers can jump tandem or solo at a height of 11,000 feet and experience views that will stay with them for a lifetime.  It’s one of the most popular activities on the island.

For those who prefer sea adventures, swimming with manta rays, sharks, and other sea life is an option available through Top Dive Center. There are several different types of dives with a master dive instructor leading the way through the area of Muri Muri. Divers will swim among rich coral fields, coral gardens, and a multitude of marine life that will make for a magically unique underwater experience. Jet ski tours are another popular activity, taking visitors to the main lagoon where they can buzz around and cool off with a swim.

Whether it’s a laid-back romantic getaway or an adventure-filled thrill-seeking experience, Bora Bora delivers.  The island is a first choice for countless visitors to French Polynesia and has proven to be a favorite of cruise guests.
